Curators Choice – Mammoth Tooth
Mammoths are an extinct relative of modern elephants that lived from around 6.2 million years ago to about 4,000 years ago. There were different species of mammoth. The most familiar is probably the woolly mammoth.
Mammoths once roamed Britain and examples of their teeth and tusks have been found and collected by museums.
In this video, Curator – Archaeology, Catherine Knight takes a closer look at the history of mammoths using a mammoth tooth from the collection that was found in North Lincolnshire.
